During my day at college today we tested some soil for PH levels. Firstly we needed to ascertain why type of soil we had, for this we needed to separate the soil into clay, sand and silt, we used a stacked soil sieve. I brought some soil from own garden, but it was too wet to get an accurate result, so i used the dry soil supplied by Tom.

Once i had discovered the soil was a sandy, clay loam, i then moved on to checking the PH. For this i used a soil testing kit. The first step was to put some soil in the test tube, which already had a chemical in it, then i put some distilled water in the the tube, after then putting the lid back on it, i agitated the tube and left it for a few mintues to settle.

The final outcome showed that the soil was neutral to Acid soil.
