The Buxus in this garden had not had a hard winter prune for a few years and had grown much taller than was originally planned.

The next thing was to take the front of the the first hedge away, this thinned the hedge making it easier to cut the tops with one go.

We then put a string line along the height that the hedge needed to be, this guided us when using the hedge trimmer.

We continued to cut the hedge carefully, making sure to keep looking out for obstacle such as pipes and electricity wires.

As we went through the hedge trimming, there was a lot of waste which we gathered up and took to the composting area at the back of the garden.

The first section was soon complete, then the rain came but we pushed on to start the last areas of the hedges area the patio.

Starting the second phase of hedge

After using the electric hedge trimmer, i went over with some hand shears to get some of the smaller lumps and bumps. This left us with a nice straight and smooth finish.

The hedge looked very bald after we had complete the job, but it is now ready for spring and will soon shoot and fill with new growth to look green and lush once again.
